J80 Keelboat Sailing

Our 2010 sail Training course using the J80 keelboats is planned for February 6th and 7th at Lough Derg Yacht Club.  This is a similar event to the 2009 event - the instructors will be (Prof) Maurice O'Connell and Peter Bayly.  Prof worked with us last year also and those of you who attended should be able to attest to the excellence of the event.  You all know Peter - he is an accomplished sailor from our own club (J80 sailors will remember being in his wake in The Portroe Cup competition last year), dinghy sailors know his as the club's world champion Mirror Class dinghy sailor.

 The event is aimed at all sailors of all experience and applies to any type of craft.  Prof is currently developing the curriculum which will aim to add variety over last year's content and will also be of interest and value to sailors who did not participate last year.  The general approach is that classes will be held in the clubhouse and the concepts being trained will be tried out on the water.

 There will be 8 boats of 4 or 5 sailors per boat (typically 4).  Costs will be 150 euro per sailor or 500 for a crew of 4.  (No change from last year).
