2025 Summer Junior Sailing Course
Dear Parents,
We are delighted to announce that bookings for the 2025 LDYC Junior Sailing Courses are now open!
These courses, run under the internationally recognized Irish Sailing Standard, offer a fantastic opportunity for your children to learn and develop their sailing skills in a safe and fun environment.
Key Changes for 2025:
- Focus on Skill Mastery: Irish Sailing has emphasized the importance of demonstrating proficiency in all required skills before progressing to the next level. This ensures a strong foundation in sailing and a deeper understanding of sailing principles.
- Adjusted Expectations: Please be aware that due to factors like weather conditions, absences, and individual learning paces, a sailor may not complete a level within the designated course period. We will provide additional opportunities for practice and skill development outside of the standard summer courses to ensure all sailors have the chance to progress.
- Even Course Distribution: Participants will be evenly distributed across all 6 weeks of the sailing courses.
- Boat Access: Each participant must have access to a boat suitable for their course level ( kites and wires plus adventure courses require double hander dinghies). Club dinghies will be available for rental for specific courses.
- Pre instructors: require a doble handed dinghy, maximum of two participants per boat.Club Dinghies are available for rent.
- Course Prioritization: Priority will be given to ISA-designed courses. Non-ISA courses, such as Monsters and Pre-Instructors, are offered but will not be the primary focus.
- Clear Communication: Regular communication will be provided to young sailors regarding their progress, level, and skills to be developed throughout the summer.
- Key Safety Control: We have a requirement to have parents present each day to act as shore parents. To help ensure compliance, each week has designated groups identified to cover this role. Once you have signed up to a course, please use this link to sign up for some times. Note that we cannot launch any levels in the morning or afternoon until shore parents are present. See below for course level assignments to shore duty
